The Difference between Particle and OSB Board

OSB and particle board are types of artificial wood-based panels, both of them have wide applications, including in construction, furniture, decoration, and other aspects. However, there are differences in the materials and structures of these two types of panels.

II. Difference in Uses

OSB is used in furniture manufacturing and interior decoration, such as bed frames, cabinets, wall panels, etc. While particle board is used in the construction field, such as stairs, steps, floors, etc. It is because the density of particle board is high and has stronger load-bearing capacity.

III. Material Differences

The raw materials of OSB are sawdust and lignin, which are all the waste left after wood processing. While the raw materials of particle board are wood that has been cut and crushed. The density of particle board is higher than that of OSB and has more stability and strength.

IV. Different Structures

OSB is made from sawdust and lignin, and the panel structure is relatively loose. While particle board is made by mixing cut wood blocks in a certain proportion and adding glue and pressing. The panel structure of particle board is tight.

V. Other Differences

OSB usually presents white or light yellow, while the color of particle board is darker, mainly presenting dark brown. In addition, the surface of OSB is smooth and can be decorated with various surface finishes; the surface of particle board has a certain unevenness and cannot be processed.

In general, there are differences between OSB and particle board in terms of uses, materials, structures, and appearances, and the appropriate panel needs to be selected according to the actual needs.
